One of the eight people injured in a jeep accident that occurred on Friday on the inner road section at Madi Muhan, Rajgaun, Khandadevi Rural Municipality-4, Ramechhap, has died during treatment.
At around 4:30 pm on Friday, a jeep (No. 1 Ja 5558) coming from Rajgaun towards Manthali fell about 50 meters, injuring all eight people including the driver.
Police said that among the injured, 53-year-old Geetamaya Jogi of Manthali Municipality-3 died during treatment at Manthali Hospital at 7 pm.
According to District Police Chief DSP Bhola Bhatta, after the accident, a team deployed from the District Police Office Ramechhap and Area Police Office Khandadevi rescued all the injured with the help of locals and brought them to Manthali Hospital.
Kopila Shrestha, 40, of Tallo Kathjor, Manthali Municipality-2, was seriously injured in the accident. Similarly, 14-year-old Sanchita Shrestha, 70-year-old Tilmaya Shrestha of Manthali-3, 50-year-old Krishnamaya Khadka, 55-year-old Kopila Jogi, 78-year-old Chetkumari Shrestha and 49-year-old driver Ramesh Budhathoki were injured.
According to DSP Bhatta, 4 people have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment, while preparations are underway to refer the remaining 3. The police said that further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
