The police on Thursday arrested the absconding accused who was found guilty in a banking crime case by the court. The District Police Office, Makawanpur, has arrested 31-year-old Riyaz Kumar Lama of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-15, who was found guilty in a banking crime case and has been absconding for 2 years.
According to the police, Lama, who was sentenced to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rs 30,000 by the Makawanpur District Court, Hetauda, was still absconding.
The police arrested him while he was hiding at home while searching for the absconding accused. The Makawanpur Police Office handed Lama over to the Makawanpur District Court to collect the prescribed sentence and fine. The police said that the court sent him to Bhimphedi Jail to collect the sentence and fine.
In the current fiscal year, the Makawanpur Police arrested 23 absconding accused, including Lama, and handed them over to the district court, said Pushkar Bogati, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson of the Makawanpur District Police Office.
According to the Makawanpur District Police Office, Makawanpur, in the last fiscal year, the Makawanpur Police arrested 183 absconding accused who were found guilty with the aim of implementing the court's verdict. A fine of Rs 12.173 million and a sentence of 99 years, 11 months and 23 days were collected from them.
