The notice states that if the structures 25-25 meters on the right and left sides of the road are not removed, the division office will remove them and the cost will be borne by the concerned party.

A 15-day ultimatum has been given to remove the permanent and temporary structures and structures built encroaching on the Mahendra Highway and Tribhuvan Highway within the Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City area.
The Road Division Office, Hetauda, issued a public notice on Friday to remove the structures built 25/25 meters to the right and left of the middle of the road. The office has asked to remove the permanent and temporary houses and other structures built from Ratomate via Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge and from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge within 15 days. The office had previously issued a notice two years ago asking for the removal of the houses and structures. It was stopped after the homeowners filed a case in the Supreme Court.
Although the Road Division Office has repeatedly issued notices for road expansion, it has been opposed by the Makawanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Earlier, in Asad 2076, the Road Division had stopped further action after issuing a notice to vacate the land in the road area being used by government agencies in Ward No. 1. At that time, there was a clash between locals and the police on Rapti Road.
In the notice issued again by the Road Division, Hetauda, it gave a 15-day ultimatum to remove the houses and structures, reminding them of the Supreme Court order. The notice states that the Supreme Court has ruled that the Road Division Hetauda will not be entitled to compensation in the 25/25-meter area from the road center from Ratomate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge and from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge, which falls under the Supreme Court on 19th Poush, 2078 BS and various other dates.
‘Since the writ petition filed against the notice published by this division on 10th Asar, 2080 BS to remove the encroachment on the road boundary was also dismissed by the Honorable Supreme Court, this notice has been re-published to remove the permanent and temporary houses and other structures built within the road boundary from Ratomate to Buddha Chowk to Rapti Bridge and from Buddha Chowk to Samari Bridge within 15 days from the date of publication of this notice and to clear the road boundary,’ the Road Division Office said.
The Road Division Hetauda has called for the notice to remove the illegal structures, reminding that it has repeatedly requested the Mahendra Highway and Tribhuvan Highway to clear the boundary. The notice states that if the structures of individuals and business activities located 25-25 meters to the right and left of the road are not removed, the division office will remove them and the cost will be borne by the concerned party.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising visited Hetauda on Thursday. He met the people's representatives and local administrators here and requested them to provide necessary assistance to widen the road.
