A young man who was absconding after killing 72-year-old Bhima Laxmi Khadka of Sajetol, Manthali Municipality-14, Ramechhap, by stabbing her with a sharp weapon has been arrested.
Dilip Khadka, 26, who had escaped after murdering an elderly woman, Bhima, who was living alone at home on Monday night, was arrested by a team led by Ramechhap Police Chief DSP Bhola Bhatta from Melung Rural Municipality-7 in Dolakha at 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
According to the police, a search operation was underway after the murder. DSP Bhatta informed that Dilip was arrested while walking. According to him, Dilip has also confessed to killing Bhima Laxmi Khadka.
Dilip, who was arrested and released on bail in a case of indecent assault and theft, had murdered the elderly woman Bhima with a sharp weapon at around 10:30 pm on Monday. Then, at around 11 pm, the locals informed the police after he walked around the village covered in blood, saying, "I killed her, I finished it."
The arrested Dilip is currently being held at the District Police Office and further investigation is underway, while the body of the deceased Bhima has been brought to Manthali Hospital for postmortem, according to Ramechhap police.
