Schools in Umakunda Rural Municipality, Ramechhap, which were closed due to the rapid spread of viral flu infection, have resumed operations from today.

The rural municipality had suspended classes from November 28 to 30, considering the health risk to increase after students started showing symptoms like fever, cough and cold. Some schools had closed classes since November 25.

According to Ngawa Sherpa, head of the rural municipality's education, youth and sports department, all schools have been opened from today with necessary health precautions. He said, 'Classes were stopped after the viral flu started spreading rapidly. All schools have opened from today, but student attendance has been low.'

He said that the risk of flu still persists and schools have been instructed to conduct classes by adopting necessary health precautions, including mandatory use of masks.

The rural municipality's health department has informed that classes have resumed from today, saying that the risk of spreading the common viral flu will be low after staying at home for three days. The health department has also stated that samples of five people who showed serious symptoms have been sent to Kathmandu for 'swab testing'.
