Sindhuli police have arrested two people on charges of murdering a woman from Tinpatan Rural Municipality-2. Local Chhatra Kumari Karki (Thapa), 40, went missing 10 days ago while leaving her home to cut grass. She was found dead four days later in Sisaugharee, Ward No. 1.
According to the details of the incident, a complaint was filed at the Area Police Office, Belghari, the day after she went missing. During the search, she was found dead four days later and according to the postmortem report, she was found to have been strangled to death. Four to five suspects were taken into custody on the 21st. Based on the information received from them, 31-year-old Surya Bahadur Kami of Dudhauli Municipality-13, Sindhuli was arrested from Dang and brought to Sindhuli for investigation, informed Police Chief SP Laldhwaj Subedi.
After Surya Bahadur confessed to the incident, the involvement of two more people was confirmed and his nephew Tanka Bahadur Kami, who lives in Dudhauli, was also taken into custody. Another person is absconding and a search is underway, said SP Subedi.
The deceased's mobile phone has been recovered from the place where Surya Bahadur hid it. According to the initial statement, it has been revealed that the murder was due to an illicit relationship. The initial conclusion is that the murder was committed out of fear of being exposed and that they had been in an illicit relationship for a long time. SP Subedi also said that further investigation is underway.
The deceased Karki's husband Mahendra Bahadur Thapa and in-laws have been working in India.
