The rural municipality has announced that teaching activities in all schools have been suspended from Friday to Sunday, considering the health risk to have increased after students started showing symptoms such as fever, cough, and cold in recent days. According to Dhanendra Bhujel, the rural municipality's chief administrative officer, the school has been instructed to conduct regular classes from Mangsir 1.
Abhijit Sunuwar, head of the rural municipality's health department, has urged people to take health precautions, stating that the viral flu has been spreading continuously since Kartik 16. He urged people to immediately contact the nearest health facility if they experience symptoms such as fever, cough, body aches, and sore throat and to take treatment and medicine as per the advice of the health worker.
The health department has urged everyone to use masks when going outside, to rest at home if they experience flu symptoms, to reduce contact with others, to consume more lukewarm water and soft foods, and to avoid moving around until they recover.
The health department has requested that precautions be taken at the community level and that schools conduct hygiene and health awareness programs to prevent the risk of infection from increasing further.
Viral flu has been spreading in all 7 wards of Umakunda Rural Municipality since Kartik 16. Some schools have already closed classes since last Tuesday after the infection started spreading among students.
