Chandeshwari Secondary School in Priti, Umakunda Rural Municipality-4, Ramechhap has been closed for three days due to the rapid spread of viral flu infection.

According to the school principal, Rudra Kumar Jespucha, the school management committee meeting held on Tuesday decided to close the school from Wednesday, Kartik 26, to Friday to control the risk of infection.

Principal Jespucha said that the school administration decided to close the school for three days after students studying in grades 1 to 12 started showing symptoms such as fever, cough, headache, and vomiting.

He said that out of the 369 students studying in the school till Tuesday, 185 had fallen ill. According to Abhijit Sunuwar, head of the health department of Umakunda Rural Municipality, viral flu and contagious bacterial infections have been seen in the rural municipality.

He said that currently 283 patients, including 139 women and 144 men, from all 7 wards of the municipality are being treated for viral flu. He also said that 413 students across the municipality have fallen ill.
