Locals today blocked the road in Likhu Rural Municipality-6, Chhahare, on the Mid-Hill Highway, demanding road repairs and improvements.
As the road is blocked, vehicles traveling from Nuwakot to Rasuwa via the Tokha-Chhahare road have been stopped. Due to the road blockage, vehicles traveling from Nuwakot and Rasuwa to Kathmandu have been stopped on the road. Efforts are being made to hold discussions between project representatives and locals to open the road, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Bikram Lama of the District Police Office.
The locals have started an indefinite road blockade from today, saying that the attention they have drawn to the concerned parties for the repair of the damaged road has been ignored. Local Nawaraj Thapa informed that the indefinite protest program has been started as the demand has not been heard.
According to him, accidents occur almost daily due to potholes on the road constructed in Chhahare three years ago, and immediate improvements have been demanded.
