Administration urges caution amid risk of flash floods and snowfall

The administration has urged people to remain vigilant, saying that the impact of the cyclone 'Montha' developing in the Bay of Bengal is expected to affect Ramechhap for the next three days.

A special bulletin issued by the Department of Water and Meteorology, Flood Forecasting Division and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority states that there is a moderate risk of increased flow and flash floods in small rivers in Ramechhap.

Issuing a notice on Thursday, the District Administration Office, Ramechhap, has specifically urged citizens of riverside settlements, landslide-prone areas and disadvantaged settlements to adopt high alert.

The administration's notice states that citizens of riverside, stream and hilly areas should adopt risk reduction measures as there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall until Kartik 15. Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa has also requested the local level, security agencies and concerned offices to keep relief and rescue prepared.

The administration has urged the general public, including those living in riverside areas and landslide-prone areas, to adopt alertness. Similarly, residents of high hilly areas have been requested to be careful as there is a possibility of snowfall. Although the weather in Ramechhap, which has been cloudy since Monday afternoon, did not see much rain on Tuesday, it continued to rain from Wednesday evening until late Thursday night.
