As Tihar approaches, restrictions have been imposed on the import, sale, distribution, and storage of plastic flowers in Ramechhap.

The Ramechhap District Administration on Wednesday wrote to all eight municipalities in the district, banning the use, sale and distribution of plastic flower bouquets and garlands.

According to Prakash Pradhan, Administrative Officer of the District Administration, as per the gazette notification published by the Ministry of Forest and Environment, a complete ban has been imposed on the production, import, sale, distribution or storage of plastic flower bouquets throughout Nepal. He said that legal action will be taken against those who import or sell them in violation of the directive.

A district-level monitoring committee will monitor the implementation of the directive. The administration has stated that if the committee finds plastic flower bouquets during market monitoring, legal action will be taken immediately.

Pradhan, Administrative Officer, urged the use of environmentally friendly, locally produced flowers and garlands in the market, targeting Tihar.
