The health insurance of more than 2,600 city dwellers of about 700 families who are not yet in reach of health insurance has been provided with the financial investment of the municipality.

Municipal Mayor Rajan Shrestha informed that through the 'Extremely Indigent Citizen Health Insurance Program', the economically disadvantaged, Dalit and marginalized communities and socially backward families are included in the health insurance program to ensure health care. According to him, more than 2,600 city dwellers belonging to 672 families selected and recommended by the ward offices have been included in the free insurance program.

'We have launched the poor citizen health insurance program after seeing that the scope of expenses was too high for the treatment of economically backward people under the responsibility of the state. The target has been taken to gradually include all the residents of the city.' 

Chief Administrative Officer Hari Prasad Pyakurel informed that families who have been insured through the municipality will continue to be invested by the municipality in the coming days. According to him, the program, which was launched to establish health care as a right and not a financial burden, has been included in the annual approved policies and programs, and emphasis has been placed on facilitating the treatment of city dwellers.
