In Sunapati rural municipality-3 of Ramechhap, about 90 families in four villages are at high risk after the landslide started from Khani river.

Residents of Keurini, Sawane, Nagasiva and Chamdung villages have taken risks and stayed in the slums. Ram Shrestha of Sunapati-3 Sawane said that the landslide started from the mine river flowing below these villages. "This place was already at risk of landslides," he said. Now, due to continuous rains on October 17, 18 and 19, water sources have burst everywhere. Due to this, the land with settlements has started flowing. Now there is no option to move the settlement, but the locals are confused about where to go.'

According to Shrestha, the highest risk is in the slums of Saune and Keureni, followed by houses in Chamdung and Nagasiva. "Currently, water sources have burst everywhere, the ground is shifting," he said, "because of this, many families cannot sleep safely at night because of fear." We have already informed the ward and municipality and the municipality has also monitored it.'

According to another local, Rose Thing, many houses have been destroyed to the point of being uninhabitable due to the landslides. The rest of the houses are also damaged. He said that most of the houses in Keureni village have been destroyed and it is difficult to live in the houses of other villages.

Currently, around 90 households in rural municipality-3 Hilledevi are at a high risk of landslides, said the chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, Suresh Kumar Shrestha, that the municipality-level disaster management committee has proceeded with the identification of the houses after necessary monitoring. According to him, the main problem now is concentrated in Keureni, Sawne and Chamdung settlements of Ward No. 3. "The upper settlements are at risk after the landslide started from the mine river that flows below this village," he said, "now there is no option to move the houses, so the houses that need to be moved immediately are being identified."

According to Shrestha, the meeting of the municipality level disaster management committee has formed a committee under the coordination of ward chairman Kul Bahadur Thing of Ward No. 3 to identify the houses of those vulnerable settlements. This area was classified as a high risk area of landslides in 2046/47. Even at that time, some families had migrated from the village after the risk of landslides,' he said.

After that, although it seems that the landslide stopped for a few years, it was reactivated by the incessant rains of the second week of October last year, and after the rains from October 17 to 19 of this year, new water sources burst in the upper parts, he said.
