A girl died when she was swept away by a flash flood in Chilawane river while returning home from Chilawane basic school located in Tadi rural municipality-2 of Nuwakot. Three other students were injured by the river.
Sasikala Tamang, the four-year-old daughter of local Ram Bahadur Tamang, who was studying in Kindergarten, passed away while returning home at 4 pm on Wednesday after the school holiday, District Police Office Nuwakot Deputy Superintendent of Police Bikram Lama informed. According to him, Sasikala died on the spot when four students were holding hands to cross the river culvert when she was swept away by the river. The police said that the river carried him down about 100 meters.
While crossing the river with her, two other girls were swept away by the flood and a boy was injured as they reached the river bank. According to the police, the injured are Joyce Tamang, Jyoti Tamang and Susma Tamang. They are currently being treated at Kharanitar Hospital.
