After the flood on the 24th of June damaged the estuary dam of the Rasuwagadhi hydropower project, the work was affected because the necessary equipment and materials for repair and reconstruction could not be transported.  

Even though the tunnel and the hydroelectric power plant are safe, the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company has reported that there is a problem in transporting and managing the equipment including rods and cement required for repair after the dam of the estuary is completely damaged.

With the opening of the 'track' on the road damaged due to the flood, only light vehicles could move, but due to the lack of large cargo vehicles, the company could not transport goods and repair the damaged structure of the hydroelectric project. Managing Director Satya Ram Jakhu said.

According to the company, the flood in the Lhende River damaged the structure of Rasuwagadhi hydropower plant with a capacity of 111 megawatts, and the production of electricity was stopped and the daily income of more than one million rupees was being lost.

Managing Director Jakhw informed that the company had to incur a loss of Rs 7288870000 with the deterioration of the structure of the Rasuwagadhi Power Generation Center, which was supposed to produce 26 lakh 64 thousand units of electricity daily. According to Rasuwagadhi Water Power Company, the damage to the project's estuary dam and other external structures caused a loss of Rs 3.5 billion.

Since eight years have been set to repay the loan for the construction of the project from the income from electricity generation, the managing director emphasized that the loan repayment period should be increased if the electricity cannot be produced, and the managing director requested the government to prepare an environment to operate the blocked road section as quickly as possible, as the debt to be paid and the interest burden will also increase.

The flood brought large stones to the estuary dam and damaged the cement structure on the surface of the dam. It has become clear that the project could not proceed with the repair work due to the lack of an environment for driving large vehicles on the road.
