Chitwan National Park has arrested and prosecuted 442 people for various crimes related to the park in the last financial year. Two hundred and sixty-six people were arrested for forest-related crimes and one hundred and seventy-six people were arrested for wildlife-related crimes.
Avinas Thapa Magar, information officer of the park, said that eight people were arrested in the case of rhinoceros, one in case of tiger, 26 of wild boar, three of pankshi, five of salak, 126 of fish, five of stone, sand, 141 of grass and 87 of niguro.
He informed that 23 people who entered the park without permission, entered the prohibited area of the park, two people were arrested for snow leopard crime, five for leopard and four for mushroom related crime.
Stating that 26 different cases have been registered against those arrested, Magar informed that four cases have been registered in the district court and other cases have been registered in the park office. The cases registered in the court are related to salak, rhinoceros and tiger.
14 of the cases registered by the park have been decided. He said that 27 cases from the previous financial year have been decided. According to him, there are 26 cases that have come under responsibility for the current financial year.
