Bhotekoshi rural municipality-2 due to a landslide in Kodari, Arani highway has been completely closed. The road connecting Tatopani crossing has been completely closed due to landslides caused by incessant rain since last night.
According to Jagat Bahadur Rai, chief police inspector of the area police office, Kodari, at around 5:00 this morning, the road was completely closed due to a large landslide from the Iku landslide area in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, Kodari.
He said that due to the landslide, traffic and vehicle operations along the Tatopani border were completely stopped. Pasangnurpu Sherpa, Chairman of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality, informed that it is impossible to operate the road in the current situation as the landslide has not yet stopped. According to him, the Eku landslide area has been considered sensitive since the past.
In this area, where there is a frequent problem of road flooding, Sherpa said that the area is at high risk of landslides after the 2072 earthquake washed away the Kodari settlement. Mentioning that the settlement has been completely displaced, he informed that discussions are ongoing between the Road Division Office Charikot and the local government about the possibility of opening the road.
