The price of eggs has reached an all-time high. After the production decreased, the price increased. Along with this, farmers have got the cost price of eggs.
Nepal Layers Poultry Breeders Association has set the support price based on the rates published by various farms. Effective from today, the farmer's rate for large eggs has been fixed at 525 rupees per crate (of 30 eggs). The average has been fixed at 495 rupees.
The rate has been fixed based on Chitwan. From here, when the eggs reach different parts of the country, the market rate is fixed. According to Vinod Pokharel, president of the association, the selling price per box (seven crates) has been fixed at 3,855 rupees and 3,645 rupees for medium. According to
president Pokharel, the price of large eggs reached 510 rupees per crate in August last year. He said, 'Until now, the highest rate of eggs has been maintained.' With this, the farmers got the cost price, he said. The cost price of eggs is 16 rupees 56 paise per egg.
The number of hens involved in egg production has decreased and the price has increased due to the lack of supply according to demand. . He also said that the production was also affected because the old chickens were sold and the farmers were displaced and could not raise new chicks.
He said, 'Looking at the current situation, the price of eggs seems to increase gradually.' Farmers are excited when the price increases. Although there are no statistics, it is estimated that 28-30 million eggs are being produced daily. This number is almost half less than before.
