'Kora Cycling Challenge' in Nuwakot to promote heritage

Vidur Municipality has organized 'Kora Cycling Challenge' with the aim of eco-friendly travel, promotion of physical health, promotion of religious and cultural heritage and charity. More than 150 people participated in the bicycle tour organized on Saturday.

The 13-kilometer cycling tour conducted by Vidur with the aim of promoting the religious, cultural, archaeological and natural places of the district along with its municipality has been successfully completed, according to the municipal office.

The participation of professional cyclists from Rasuwa, Dhading, Kathmandu and other districts along with Nuwakot has conveyed a positive message on the protection of religious and cultural heritage and promotion of tourism, informed Rajan Shrestha, Mayor of Vidur. According to him, the enthusiastic participation in the cycling tour held for the first time in the district has encouraged the new version of the program in the future.

'Environmentally friendly travel to religious and historical heritage, we have focused the program to make the participants physically healthy while making financial collection for charity work the main goal', he said, 'We will continue this program as a social change campaign in the coming days.'

Mayor Shrestha informed that the amount of support collected from the 'Kora Cycling Challenge' campaign will be focused on distributing solar lamps to the Danuwar community living in remote areas of Sindhupalchok. He said that the funds were collected for the purpose of solar energy connection for the families who are living their daily lives in poverty in the area which has not yet received electricity service. 

Mayor Shrestha called upon everyone to contribute from their respective positions to help promote social awareness and cooperation. In the cycling trip, the Deputy Chief Prabha Bogti, Nepali Army No. 6 Bahini Adda, Dhading Bahinipati Subasjung Thapa, Sher Gana Nuwakot Ganapati Ashok Kumar Malla, Trishuli Military Training Center Center Chief Devraj Bhatt, Ward No. 1 Ward President Lenin Ranjit and other distinguished people participated in the bicycle ride.

Yaikal Yatra started from the main administrative office of Vidur municipality and reached Vidurchok, Vanadevi Mandir-Indrachok-Swayambhu, Mahachaitya. On the way back from there, Nuwakot Satat passed through Darbar-Bhairavidevi Temple-Dharampani-Barahi Temple-Battar Oldapati and again reached the office of Vidur Municipality, according to the city office. It took four hours to complete the journey.
