The officials of the children's home have been arrested for repeatedly raping a girl who was living in a children's home run by Kailash rural municipality-3 of Makwanpur.

48-year-old Madhusudan Raut was arrested on the charge of raping a girl living in a children's home run by underprivileged and vulnerable children. On June 8, the victim girl filed a complaint against Raut at Makwanpur District Police Office saying that she was repeatedly raped. Despite filing a complaint, Raut was not arrested. 


The police arrested Raut from the Kandaghari area of Kathmandu on Friday afternoon, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal, spokesperson of Makwanpur District Police Office informed. According to him, Raut was brought to Makwanpur on Saturday and the deadline will be extended on Sunday and further investigation will be carried out.


The 17-year-old girl had been living in a hostel run by the Sangrila Development Association for four years. His father died in an accident a few years ago and his mother is out of touch. 


She was staying with her maternal grandmother in a hostel said to have been opened for the protection of children due to poor financial conditions. There are 15 girls in the orphanage. However, the victim has mentioned in her complaint that she was repeatedly raped by the head of the hostel, Raut, during the period from June 1 to 8.
