A 'Tourism Information Center' has been established at Thamel, a major tourist destination of the federal capital.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Bagmati Province has established a 'Tourism Information Center' with the support of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 and Thamel Tourism Development Council.
The center was inaugurated today by the Culture and Tourism Minister of Bagmati Province, Bimal Thakuri. Minister Thakuri has expressed his belief that the information center will help not only Thamel but also Nepal's tourism development. He informed that Bagmati Province has established a tourism information center in Thamel after Chitwan and said that tourists will know about the tourist activities of Nepal from this center. He said that a public toilet will also be constructed in Thamel.
Khyamraj Tiwari, the ward chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26, expressed his belief that since 80 percent of the foreign tourists who visit Nepal come to visit Thamel, they will get help from the information center.
Secretary of Bagmati Province Ministry of Culture and Tourism Dipendra Subedi said that the provincial government is going to publish a 'travel book' covering the tourist destinations of all the districts within the province informed.
Pawan Kumar Pokharel, Head of the Tourism Division of Bagmati Province Ministry of Tourism informed that the information center that started today will provide information to tourists about Nepal's footpaths, transportation, hotels, local art culture, etc.
Sahdev (Bimal) Dhamala, vice president of the Thamel Tourism Development Council, said that the council is working to organize Thamel, which represents Nepal's identity at the international level.
