The eastern part of Chitwan on the east-west highway is seen after about two kilometers north of Parsa Bazar - a typical house covered with zinc. 92-year-old Khadgkumari Gajurel lives with her eldest son Janardhan Gajurel in that house in Khaiharni Municipality-3 Dhusari. Khadg Kumari is spending her days under the zinc roof even in this time of scorching heat. There is a greater anger in his heart than the heat of zinc.

Khadg Kumari kept 16 lakh rupees in the Chitwan Sahara Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society to meet the expenses in her old age. She has been sick for a year worrying about whether she will get back the money she kept by selling the land of her share (old age/life) . He was away until the afternoon. It has not been so safe for a year. Don't go out much. From time to time he talks about money,' said Janardan, the eldest son.

Concerned about his mother's condition, Janardan put this before Shalikram Duwadi, the coordinator of the Chitwan Sahara Cooperative Oppressed Sangharsh Samiti. Duwadi went to Khadgkumari's house on Friday to meet her. Duwadi, who arrived with other friends of the Sangharsh Samiti, advised Khadg Kumari not to worry. "My everything is that money". Bring it back as much as possible, father,' Khadg Kumari requested with tears in her eyes.

Khadg Kumari's family migrated from Sindhupalchok and came to Suryapur in Jutapani, Chitwan in May 2026. After 6 years, husband Khadananda Gajurel moved the family again from Suryapur to Dhuseri. Pati Khadananda passed away in the year 2067 . The land added by the husband was also kept in the name of Khadg Kumari with the share of three brothers. As she got older, Khadg Kumari felt the desire to spend the week.

The Gajurel family of the Vaishnava sect has a lot of faith in Dharmakarma . Khadg Kumari's three sons consulted to fulfill their mother's wishes. He decided to sell the land in his mother's name after he could not meet the expenses of the week only with the help of his brothers. Son Janardan says that apart from selling the land, his mother also donated some money to the Devghat temple.

After that, the remaining 1.6 million rupees were opened by the sons in the name of the mother and kept in a term account in Parsa Bazaar bank The bank used to give 9 percent interest. Later, a cooperative in Khurkhure market, some east of Parsadekh, said that it would give 13 percent interest . They transferred the money from the bank to the cooperative. A branch of Chitwan Sahara Cooperative opened in Parsa Bazar. The representative there came home with an offer of 13.5 percent interest.

Khadgkumari's three sons were not only attracted by the interest rate . The representative of Sahara made an attractive offer to come to the house and pay the interest in three months. Mother's age was increasing. It was asked whether to take him away from home and find out how much interest, if he comes home to pay the interest,' said Maila's son Hariprasad. But the younger Tikaram expressed the opinion that he would not put money into the cooperative immediately.

Sahara's representatives did not stop running home . One day, Tikaram went to see Parsa Seva Kendra in Sahara. "The furnishings there were better than those of a good bank." I thought, it is not dangerous to keep it . Later, after consulting with my brothers, we decided to move the money here,' said Tikaram.

On 8th July 2079, 6 lakh 50 thousand rupees were withdrawn and kept in Sahara. On July 30, 9 lakh 50 thousand rupees were also brought and deposited there. According to the

condition, the interest amount came at home in the first three months . But then Khadgkumari's family waited for the interest. The Chitwan Sahara multi-purpose cooperative society of Bharatpur, which was started by Geetendra Babu (GB) Rai as its founder, later expanded its branches to Parsa Bazaar in Tandi and Khairhani in the eastern part of the district Ratnanagar. The savers stopped getting the money deposited in this cooperative . GB Rai was found to have invested savers' money in his other private companies against the rules.

11 crore rupees of savers went to GB Rai's Gorkha Media . Gurkha Media used to run Galaxy 4K TV . Ravi Lamichhane was one of the three directors of Gorkha Media. He was also its managing director. He later left TV and joined politics, becoming the MP of Chitwan-2 and the Home Minister.

A case has been filed in the Chitwan District Court against the president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA), Lamichhane, for misappropriating Sahara Cooperative savings funds. Although he was released on bail from Chitwan, Lamichhane is currently in Bhairawaha Jail after the High Court ordered him to be sent to jail in a case of cooperatives in Butwal of a similar nature. GB Rai is absconding. 85 crore rupees of 6 thousand 334 savers of Chitwan have been trapped in the cooperative.

'This old woman's money was also embezzled by the owner of the cooperative. Our concern is to get the money back to the savers as soon as possible . Because the money of a very ordinary person like Khadg Kumari mother did not sink like this,' said Shalikram Duwadi, the coordinator of the Sangharsh Committee, which was formed after the savings were not returned from Sahara Cooperative.

Janardhan says that the mother's mind became restless after not knowing whether the money would come from the cooperative. ``Mother is sleeping inside the house, what are you talking about in your heart?'' In such a situation, we did not even dare to leave,' he said.

Old people are attached to their money, no matter how little it is. They don't always spend what they get. There are 70/80 people who give Dakshina after Dashain and other festivals. Everyone is told to donate their own money till they live. How can mother's mind be at peace when she can't use the money that she has saved to buy food, medicine and even for emergencies," Janardan said.
