The black sheeting of the Sanga-Dhulikhel road section under the Araniko highway, which is being upgraded, has been started. According to the Suryavinayak-Dhulikhel, Dhulikhel-Sindhuli-Bardibas road project, the three-kilometer road from Dhulikhel to Banepa will be completed by next June.
The Sanga-Dhulikhel road section is being expanded to 6 lanes under the Araniko highway. As the road is being extended in two sections namely Suryavinayak-Sanga and Sanga-Dhulikhel, the black paper of Sanga-Dhulikhel section has been started.
Bishnu Prasad Khanal, engineer of the project, said that the one kilometer road from Dhulikhel Main Chowk to Bansghari towards Banepa has been started.
Currently, it is said that the first layer of black paper has been completed with modern technology and the second layer is being worked on. According to Khanal, there will be 80 cm black sheet on the main part of the road. In the first layer, 30 to 35 cm 'Subbase', then 20 cm 'CTP', 10 cm 'crack-relief layer' is put on it, 11 to 13 cm 'DBM' on it, 6 cm 'Asphalt concrete layer' on it, and a total of 80 cm is being laid using modern technology.
Suryavinayak-Dhulikhel is 16 km. In which Suryavinayak-Sanga is 7.5 km and Sanga-Dhulikhel is 8.5 km. The contract was signed in two sections and two phases to complete the 6-lane road extension in the said distance in three years. The contract between Suryavinayak and Sanga was signed in November 2079 and the contract between Sanga and Dhulikhel was signed in December 2079.
There is a contract agreement to build a 6-lane road section with two service lanes and four main lanes. According to Engineer Khanal, the physical progress of the Sanga-Dhulikhel road section has been completed so far. The goal of the project is to complete 60 percent of the physical progress of the three km blacktop that has been started at the end of June.
In the first phase of the project, an agreement was reached for the expansion of the 8.4 km Sanga to Dhulikhel road section worth Rs.
The expansion was started after the traffic jams increased every year due to the narrow roads. After the Tatopani crossing of Sindhupalchok, a short distance with China, has been opened, the traffic on this highway is increasing day by day. At present, more than 2,500 long-distance vehicles from Koteshwar in the mid-hill region and the eastern Terai pass on this highway.
