20 percent damage was done in Kerakheti here due to the rains and storms that came last week. Ghannath Mahato, President of Banana Growers Association Chitwan, said that the bananas planted in the eastern and western areas of the district were damaged.
According to him, damage was done in Kerakheti in East Chitwan's Kalika Municipality, Chainpur, Birendranagar and Ratnanagar last Wednesday and Thursday. He says that 15 to 20 percent of the damage has been done in those areas. Ward No. 23 and 26 of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality were damaged in Kerakheti due to the storm that came on Friday. In addition, the Thimura area of Bharatpur has also been damaged.
Madhav Ghimire of Kalika Municipality, who was cultivating bananas, said that the storm had damaged the bananas during harvesting.
