Due to incessant rain, the road was blocked for eight hours due to the flood of Roshi Khola at Mapti on the BP highway on Monday night. According to the district police office, efforts are being made to open the blocked highway since last night.
According to the information officer of the office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Meen Bahadur Ghale, the highway could not be opened after the flood caused further damage to the road towards Mangaltar located in Roshi rural municipality-12 at night.
He said that on the initiative of the police team and locals, efforts are being made to open the highway since this morning, even if it is one-way. When the highway was swept away by the October flood last year, a temporary diversion was constructed at that location. The police said that they rescued 17 passengers stranded on the highway.
Meanwhile, the police said that the search for a woman who went missing in the flood after the incessant rain on Monday afternoon has also been started today. 33-year-old Renuka Giri, a resident of the same place, went missing when Dhalam was swept away by the river in Subbagaon, Panauti Municipality-5 at 6:00 in the evening.
He was swept away by the flood in the river while returning from the fair. According to the office, the police team and locals searched continuously, but the search was suspended after they were not found until late on Monday night.
Pranau Ghale said that since this morning, a team including Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force has been deployed and the search operation has been resumed. Some areas around Panauti Bus Park were inundated due to rain on Monday. In the same way, the potato field has been damaged due to the flooding of the river.
