It is mentioned in the concept paper of health tourism, which was released in Bharatpur on Saturday evening, that if health can be linked to tourism, it will become a good base for the economy. Health Studies Center, Institute of Life Sciences has prepared this memorandum.

The concept paper was released in the presence of Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Pandey, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal and others.

Even though Nepal is known as the country of Mount Everest, the country of Gautama Buddha, and a country rich in natural beauty, it has not been possible to brand it by combining all the possibilities and opportunities into one basic element, said Baikunth Aryal, the former Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal. That is the basic element of health. Let's brand it," he said. Aryal is the coordinator of the concept paper issued by Arogya Study Center.

Aryal says that the three main things that people long for are physical happiness, a healthy body and happiness. We need material happiness, healthy body and lasting happiness. Health is a modified combination of the three things we crave,' Aryal mentioned in his concept paper . He said that because tourism is also looking for the same, there are possibilities in Nepal, but research and promotion are necessary.

Aryal says that if you combine yoga and meditation with physical happiness, both body and mind will be healthy and happy. He said that health tourism can be made the basis of nine diverse areas such as natural, geographical and biological diversity in Nepal's tourism, such as social living culture, adventure tourism, and so on. He says that every feature of Nepali tourism can be connected with meditation and yoga.

'The activities done so far for the expansion of tourism have neither increased the number of tourists nor prolonged their stay . We have seen that by linking tourism with health, the number will increase and the stay of tourists will be extended by five days," said Aryal. If this happens, the daily expenses of tourists will be 150 US dollars on average, he said. He estimates that 5 million tourists will enter and another 10 million jobs will be created.

He told that the health economy in the world is equal to five decimal 6 trillion US dollars in 2022. According to the Global Wellness Institute, Nepal ranks 91st among the 143 countries of the world in the health economy index. He said that in 2022, the size of the health economy in Nepal is equal to 2.02 billion US dollars and if health tourism is promoted, this size will increase several times.

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Pandey said that the provincial government has started making plans for the expansion of tourism according to the health concept. Renu Dahal, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, said that as nature, wildlife, religious and cultural tourism have identified Chitwan, they are ready to connect it with health. Aryal suggests that all three levels of government and the private sector should come up with an action plan to implement this concept.
