An agreement has been reached between the provincial government and the local levels where the program is implemented to implement the 'Chiuri and Bat Conservation Program' aimed at the social, cultural and economic upliftment of the marginalized Chepang community.
Among the programs organized in the Ministry of Social Development, under the chief hospitality of the Minister of Social Development, Hariprabha Khadgi, an agreement was signed with 6 local levels for the implementation of the second phase of the program. The program will be implemented in partnership with 20 percent local level and 80 percent provincial government.
In the current financial year, the state government has allocated a budget of 75 lakh rupees for the program. Badrinath Gayre, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development, said that since last year, the state government has launched the 'Chiuri and Bat Conservation Program' with the belief that it will have a positive impact on the social transformation of the Chepang community. He said that the program was launched with the aim of preserving the economic prosperity and culture of the Chepang community.
The program is being implemented in Makwanpur's Raksirang, Dhading's Gajuri, Benighat Rorang and Chitwan's Rapti, Kalika and Ichchakamana rural villages. Amrit Adhikari, Head of Social Development Division, informed that under the program, Chiuri nursery establishment, conservation, tree planting, marketing of Chiuri honey and seeds and public awareness program will be conducted. In the
program, Rajkumar Malle, chairman of Raksirang rural municipality, suggested that the provincial government should keep the 'Chiuri and bat conservation program' under a conditional program and allocate the budget.
