The mayor of Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city, Meenakumari Lama, has been dragged into a controversy while trying to promote the business run by the youth.
Sushan Ghalan, the owner of 'The Nineteen Salon', which was run by nine undergraduate students near Hetaunda-4, Huprachaur, was criticized on social media when he imposed a decree on the petition submitted to the sub-metropolis demanding one AC and one inverter. Mayor Lama inaugurated the salon, which was put into operation from 3rd Baisakh for the youth to become self-employed and develop it as a training center. She promised to provide necessary support during the inauguration of the salon.
'After opening the salon, nine young people studying graduation at Makwanpur Multipurpose Campus called me for the inauguration. I went and inaugurated it. The youths are planning to become self-employed and provide free training to other youths. I have promised to help after that," she said. She said that after they asked for AC and inverter, she gave a specific order to Jinsi branch under sub-metropolis and requested to determine the cost. I can't help if I just want to. After the cost is prepared, it will be given only by decision of the executive meeting. All procedures and steps should be completed to support,'' she said. The sub-metropolitan city has been supporting the farmers with various equipment including tractors.
She said that she was attacked by a group that has been chasing her since she became the mayor. According to Savin Neupane, spokesperson of Hetaunda Sub-Metropolitan City, the issue of providing AC and inverter support to salons is in line with the policy of business promotion. Since the mayor has the authority to assist the sub-metropolitan city for business promotion, the process has been carried out accordingly. The process of providing content based on demand within the jurisdiction has been advanced.' According to
spokesperson Neupane, whether or not it will be given is yet to be decided. The mayor has the right to financial support up to 25,000 rupees. "The matter of joint cooperation will be determined by the process as determined by the economic procurement order," he said.
