The Supreme Court has ordered the closure of the brick industry operating in Panchkhal municipality.
The court ruled that it has seriously affected the environment and public health and ordered the closure of the brick kiln operating there.
Locals filed a petition in the Supreme Court on 14 January 2076, opposing the Panchkhal Municipality, the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the Ministry of Education, the Department of Archeology and others.
Eight brick kilns are currently operating in Panchkhal. Meanwhile, Panchkhal city has adopted a policy to improve the industry including brick kilns while creating an environmental policy.
