Vape and other goods worth 2.5 million were seized from a container going to Kathmandu from Tatopani border, driver arrested [Update]

Police have seized electronic cigarettes (Vape) worth 21 lakh rupees and some mobile phones from two freight trucks going to Kathmandu through Tatopani border crossing in China.

District Police Office Bahrbise and Armed Police Force Lamosanghu found small and large size vape and other materials hidden in Sitmuni during a routine check on Wednesday.

According to Sumesh Pandey, police inspector of Bahrbise area police office, out of the two containers that were going to Kathmandu after completing the customs process from Tatopani checkpoint, container No. 6 B 5496 was checked at Khursanibari market of Bahrbise.

Pandey said that 740 vape and three mobile phones were found hidden in Sitmuni. According to preliminary estimates, the seized vape is worth around 22 lakh 20 thousand rupees. The police said that the driver has been arrested and further investigation has been started. The police has recently released the data that there are goods worth 2.5 million 52 thousand.

Similarly, the Armed Police Force Checkpost located in Balefi Rural Municipality-1, Lamosanghu has recovered 155 vape, mobile phones and cash worth 352,000 rupees from the truck No. The driver is Pravin Khatri, a resident of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2.

Similarly, the driver of the truck arrested in Lamosanghu, 28-year-old Ajay Shrestha, resident of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4, and 24-year-old Vishwas Shrestha, who was riding in the truck, have also been detained by the police. According to Armed Police Force Lamosanghu, the recovered material has been sent to the Revenue Investigation Office, Harihar Bhavan, Lalitpur.
