Identification of non-communicable diseases: A month-long 'screening' campaign in Kavre

A month-long 'screening' campaign has been started in Kavrepalanchok for the prevention of non-communicable diseases. As the number of people suffering from non-communicable diseases is increasing, a screening campaign has been conducted since Sunday with the aim of prevention, according to District Health Office Dhulikhel.

Ragishree Kashpati Shrestha, head of the office, said that since the risk of non-communicable diseases has been increasing in the age group over thirty years, the screening campaign has been started. According to him, BMI (Body Mass Index), high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney will be tested in the campaign. During the campaign, it is said that those who have been diagnosed with an incurable disease after a health examination will be consulted. According to the

office, campaign programs will be conducted in 15 locations under the urban health program in the first phase, while all 13 local levels of the district will conduct separate programs related to this. The

campaign program is expected to reduce non-communicable diseases in Kavrepalanchok. It is said that the campaign will be conducted for one month. Meanwhile, Mandandeupur municipality has started a free eye camp for cataract identification and surgery. 

On Sunday, the camp was started from the Dandagaon Basic Health Service Center located in Ward No. 1. It is said that the camp will be conducted in all 12 wards of the city due to the technical support of Reyukai AE's Masunaga Eye Hospital in Banepa. Cataract problems were seen in the camp. Free surgery will be done at Masunaga Eye Hospital. 

According to the City Health Branch, out of the 72 people who were examined at the camp conducted on Sunday, six people were found to have cataracts. The branch said that the eye problems will be gradually operated. It is said that the camp will be conducted today at the Baluwapati Health Chowki of Ward No. 2 and on Thursday at the Gaihribisauna Health Chowki located in Ward No. 5.
