To reduce traffic accidents, the traffic police, which has launched a special campaign in the districts of Bagmati province, has taken action against 70,331 vehicles during the seven months of the current financial year 2081/082.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Khan informed that 50 million 91 lakh 89 thousand 13 revenue was collected from that operation, spokesperson of Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office Ramnagar Chitwan.
The traffic police, who are monitoring the speed of vehicles through CCTV and reader units installed on the East-West highway, said that during the seven months of the current financial year 2081/082, action was taken against 70,331 vehicles that violated traffic rules.
In the same period, 170 people died in 10256 vehicle accidents in 10 districts of Bagmati Province, while 463 people were injured, according to the office.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Khan said that due to the increase in the trend of carrying more passengers than the capacity, driving at high speed, riding motorcycles without helmets and with three people on board, vehicle checks have been tightened even on highways and other auxiliary routes.
