The task force formed to investigate the case of death of wild elephant 'Makuna' in the Lamital area of ​​Kumroz Intermediate Community Forest of Chitwan National Park has completed the on-site study.

 

The task force formed under the coordination of Dr. Buddhisagar Paudel, joint secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, returned to Kathmandu on Wednesday after completing the on-site study that started for three days.

According to Avinas Thapa Magar, information officer of Chitwan National Park, the task force discussed with the staff of Chitwan National Park, the Nepali Army and the concerned parties, as well as on-site inspection and monitoring of the incident site. He said, 'The task force team completed its work yesterday  Kathmandu is back.'

The five-member working group formed under the coordination of Poudel started work from last January 27. They discussed with private elephant owners of Sauraha, representatives of United Elephant Cooperatives, representatives of community forests, representatives of the Intermediate Zone Management Committee . Due to concerns during the

discussion, the task force has been asked to integrate private elephants and facilitate sustainable management. The elephant keepers mentioned that they are ready to facilitate the management if the state designates a certain place .

The members of the working group formed by the ministry regarding the shooting death of Makuna in the Lamital area of ​​Chitwan National Park on January 23 include Purushottam Sharma, Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Department, Gajendra Rawat, the chief soldier of the Directorate of National Parks and Wildlife Reserves, Sabnam Pathak, the Forest Officer of the Forest and Land Conservation Department, Dr. Dinesh Shah, the veterinarian of the Chitwan National Park, and the team conducted an on-site study. Thapa Magar, the information officer of the park, informed and observed.  The

ministry formed a task force with a seven-day mandate to discuss with the people, organizations, groups, agencies and security agencies, local municipalities and local administrations who are related and related to the incident site, to identify the detailed description and cause of the incident, to include in the report the safety precautions to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. Magar informed that the study of the incident has been started with the formation of the task force.
