Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city is being declared a child-friendly city today (Thursday) during a ceremony. On the occasion of the 56th foundation day of the sub-metropolitan city, a child-friendly local government city is about to be announced.
Meena Kumari Lama, head of Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city, said that after the completion of 51 indicators required to declare child-friendly, the sub-metropolitan city is going to be declared a child-friendly local government municipality. The target of 43 indicators has been achieved 100 percent and more than 99 percent results have been achieved in 4 indicators.
More than 90 percent in 3 indicators and 88 percent in one indicator, Mayor Lama, who is about to announce child-friendly, gave information. According to the household data collection survey of 2079, there are 50,195 children under the age of 18 in Hetaunda sub-metropolitan city.
There are 26 thousand 145 boys and 24 thousand 50 girls. Based on the total number of children, 52.08 percent are boys and 47.91 percent are girls.
There are 371 children's groups in the sub-metropolitan municipality, 265 at toll level and 116 at school level, while there are 20 children's networks at 19 ward level and one at city level.
With the main slogan 'Investment in children: the beginning of a sure future', the city is about to be declared free from substandard child labour, free from child marriage and child-friendly local governance. Earlier, all the 19 wards have been declared child-friendly local government wards. With the announcement of the wards as child-friendly local governments, Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh is going to declare the sub-metropolis as a child-friendly local government.
Among the 10 municipalities of Makwanpur, Makwanpurgarhi rural municipality, Manhari rural municipality and Bakaiya rural municipality have already been declared as Balmaitri local government municipalities. With the announcement of Hetaunda sub-metropolis as child-friendly local government municipality, Makwanpur will become the fourth child-friendly local government municipality.
For child-friendly declaration, necessary infrastructure and various child-friendly programs were started from August 5, 2079 to complete the indicator.
