General Secretary of CPN Maoist Center Dev Gurung has said that because of the government, there is a threat to democracy itself. Speaking to journalists in Hetaunda on Saturday, Gurung made a serious accusation that the current government is bent on weakening democracy rather than strengthening it.
"The current government is trying to rule through ordinances by deceiving the House." Because of this, democracy is gradually becoming a threat," he said in a program organized by Press Center Nepal. He said that the Congress-UML leadership has moved towards two-party practice. He alleged that the threat to democracy is increasing due to the current Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
'The obstacles to development, good governance and prosperity are corruption and commissarism,' he said, 'due to this, the economic situation of the country has quadrupled. However, rather than controlling it, the government is moving forward through the process of protecting it.'
He also said that the current ruling coalition was formed due to the campaign launched by the government led by his party president Pushpa Kamal Dahal in one and a half years.
It is the responsibility of the government to protect the independence of the country. However, the government is not able to do the kind of foreign policy that it should adopt,' he said, 'which is causing a serious crisis on the national independence of the country.'
