The demarcation of the Panauti river in Kavrepalanchok, which was affected by the severe floods and landslides in the second week of last October, and the demarcation of the Roshi river as part of the people's land consolidation project, have been completed. In a period of two weeks, the demarcation of nine kilometers of the river was completed through the technicians of various offices in the district.
Panauti Municipality and District Surveyor's Office jointly started the work to restore the condition of the land after the flood along with the demarcation of the river destroyed the people's houses and land.
The work has been started from Bhumedanda area in Ward No. 12 Roshi of the city to bring the condition of all types of land back to normal with the assessment of the damage caused by the flood. Ashok Kumar Bhusal, chief surveyor of the surveyor's office, said that the demarcation of the nine-kilometer river from Bhumedanda to Panauti's Trivenighat has been completed.
According to the official Bhuusal, after demarcation of the river, restoration of the land shares of the people is being done based on the request made to the locals. The work with the layout of Roshi Khola has been started in Panauti Nagar Office, Napi Office and Land Management Training Center in Khatai Roshi area.
Officer Bhusal told that teams from three offices are studying using DGPS, drones, total stations etc. According to him, the team will use DGPS technology to show the land of Savik's rivers, plots and mining areas.
It is estimated that it will take three months to consolidate the land in that area. Officer Bhusal said that it is a challenge to unify the condition of the land that people are enjoying. According to him, currently 60 shares have been identified. If
is necessary, it is said that coordination and support will be taken from the Digital Surveyor's Office Banepa. The locals have been demanding that the reconstruction work should start only after restoring the river area and individual shares. 18 people died due to the landslide in Panauti. Five hundred and eighty-six houses were completely damaged and nine hundred and forty-four houses were partially damaged. The city said that 11,637 individual farms were damaged in that area.
Meanwhile, Panauti Nagar has decided to give 100 percent discount on the property tax of the citizens in the flood-affected areas. The 16th meeting of the city has decided to give 100% discount on property tax by designating some areas.
Mayor Ram Sharan Bhandari said that the decision of revenue discount will be implemented only after monitoring from the concerned ward and recommending the cutting of the flood-affected areas. In the flood-affected areas that have been decided, Manedovan and Newrekhola of Ward No. 1, Kushadevi of Ward No. 2, all areas of Ward No. 5 and 6, Bagar area located in Ward No. 8, Salandu and Roshi Khola coastal areas of Ward No. 11, Khyakuthumki, Dandagaon and Nepane areas, the entire area of Ward No. 12. This facility will be given to the flood victims who have paid other tax revenue due in the current year.
Similarly, in the Municipal Assembly, it has been decided to give a 50 percent discount on the property tax for the current year to the land used by the ordinary construction-oriented road-stone industry. It is said that if the residents of the flood-affected areas have already paid the property tax in the current year, it will be matched with the property tax of the next year based on the evidence.
