Bahadur Singh Lama, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, has expressed his commitment for child marriage-free Nepal. He signed the pledge among children and representatives of 'Just Rights for Children in Nepal' for a child marriage-free Nepal.

Stating that he and his government are committed to the campaign to end child marriage, Chief Minister Lama also said that the Bagmati government has already made policies and laws to end child marriage. We have already made laws. We are also making policies and laws at the local level," he said. "We are committed to a province free of child marriage legally and constitutionally." In the

signing ceremony, social activists Balkrishna Pandey, Dr. Gangadhar Adhikari, Devaki Regmi and others participated. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli signed a commitment letter on December 16 to declare Nepal free of child marriage by the year 2030 and started the campaign. After that, the Federal Minister of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and the Minister of Social Development of the seven provincial governments jointly launched a national campaign. This global campaign is running in about 28 countries in 3 continents.
