This year, 55 species of birds have been found in the wetlands of East Chitwan. In the organization of Bird Education Society and Nepal Ornithologists Association, counting was done on the 22nd and 23rd of December in Chitwan National Park and nearby Taltalaiya and Nadinala. Two species of birds that were not found last year have also been found this time.

According to the program coordinator of the Bird Education Society, ornithologist Basu Bidari, Black-headed Gangachil and King Gangachil were seen this year. He said that all species of birds found last year were also found this year.

53 species of birds were seen last year. This year Darai Botetal from Lothar, Sauraha Ghat from Gaidhwa (Zindgani Ghat), Kasara Bridge from Sauraha Ghat, Tamor Lake, Lami Lake, Bis Hajar Lake and its related lakes, Bhandara Machhapokhari, Budhi Rapti Dhungare Khola, Patna Lake were done in the wetlands of East Chitwan. Bidari informed that 7,150 birds were included in the two-day count. He said that among them there are 4,177 Chakhewachkhevi.

Last year, seven thousand five hundred and seventeen birds were included. The number of chakhewachkhevi has decreased compared to the previous year. He said that 4,304 were found last year. 41 species have been found from Sauraghat to Kasraghat. Similarly, two species of birds were found from Lothar to Zindgani Ghat, 25 from Zindgani Ghat to Sauraha Ghat, 30 in Beis Hajar Lake, 26 in Budhirapti, 24 in Dhungare River, 18 in Matyavikas Kendra, 16 in Lami Lake, 12 in Patna Lake and four in Tamor Lake. He said that while 7,150 birds were included, only 4,170 water ducks were included.

Jalakouwa Sanu 117 and large 460 are included in the count. Bidari, who is also the former president of the Bird Education Society, said that the number of water birds is decreasing due to pollution, extraction of river products and increasing human activities. 'Jalewa birds have increased. The number of Chakhewa is the same,' he said. He says that comparatively more birds and wild animals were found in the area with less pollution. The society has been counting birds since 1987.

In 35 countries of East Asia including Nepal, water birds are counted every year in January of the English year. The society has currently counted winter waterfowl. He said that 652 species of birds can be found in Chitwan. Among them, 159 species were found in the district this year. He said that there are 55 species dependent only on water.
