The 12 km road from Nepalthok in Sindhuli to Chowkidanda in Kavre has been damaged by the flood in Roshi last October. Out of which 8 kilometers of roads have to be constructed completely.
The non-operation of the highway will also affect the mid-hill road connecting the eastern hills. Speaker Ghimire emphasized that the first priority of the government should be construction of BP highway. At the moment, the flow of water in the Roshi river is low, so there is a temporary road operation from the bank. As floods will start from the month of May, the road should be built before then,' he said.
The Federal Member of Parliament of Sindhuli Region No. 2, Lekhnath Dahal, has suggested the government to start the work immediately by awarding a contract according to the technical estimate for the BP highway construction and allocating 500 million for now. He warned that if the construction of the highway is delayed, the movement will start at the local level. MP Dahal says that if the construction of the highway, which carries 10,000 vehicles every day, is not prioritized, the protest will be started by blocking the highway.
