Those driving erratically are being prosecuted

Makwanpur police has started prosecuting drivers who drive under the influence of drugs. District Police and Traffic Police Office Makwanpur have coordinated with the District Public Health Office to carry out testing on various highways.

Actions have been taken against the drivers who have been found guilty during the lapse test. Makwanpur police has filed a case against four drivers in Makwanpur district court for action under Narcotic Drugs Act-2033.

'There is nothing greater than human life. We have been testing the lapase on different routes by asking the help of the public health office,'' Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal, spokesperson of District Police Office Makwanpur, said that for the first time in the district, a case has been brought against a person driving a vehicle while driving lapase.

Makwanpur police and traffic have increased their activity with the increase in all-round complaints of passenger vehicle drivers driving under the influence of drugs. Aryal said that the investigation campaign for lapses and drunkenness has been intensified as part of the traffic accident and damage reduction campaign at various places. He said that this campaign will continue.

District Traffic Police Office Makwanpur Chief Inspector Keshav Adhikari said that since many roads entering the federal capital pass through Makwanpur district, they are conducting daily campaigns to reduce accidents. "We are working to place signboards at the modes, check at different places. As a result, the number of road accidents is also decreasing," he claimed.

From Makwanpur, one can enter the federal capital Kathmandu through East-West Highway, Tribhuvan Rajpath, Kanti Lokpath, Dharan-Chatara, Kulekhani-Sisneri, Kulekhani-Fakhel, Kulekhani-Matatirth and Chitlang-Chandragiri roads. There are more accidents on this route. Because of this, the police-traffic police have been conducting various awareness programs to reduce accidents.
