Chandragiri-Thankot road closed for a month

Thankot-Chandragiri-Chitlang road section connecting Kathmandu-Hetounda is going to be closed for one month from Sunday. Due to maintenance of the road from Panighat to Chandragiri Bhanjyang under the said road section, traffic is going to be stopped for a month.

The Road Division Office, Kathmandu, issued a notification on Thursday and informed that the road will be completely closed from January 7th i.e. Sunday to January 6th for road upgrading. The office has requested to use alternative roads throughout the said period.

'Under this office, for the upgrading of the Thankot-Chitlang road, the section of the said road from Panighat to Chandragiri Bhanjyang  As it will be completely closed from 7th of January to 6th of January, it is advised to use alternative roads during that period, it is mentioned in the notice.

Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology has said that after the road department issued a notice to close the said road, it will affect the teaching of the university in the name of road improvement.

University President Professor Rajendradhwaj Joshi said that due to the road department, it will be difficult to implement the academic schedule (calendar) of this university. He said that when the road is closed for 24 hours without considering the residents of Chitlang and the educational institutions in that area, citizens and educational institutions have to face more problems. 

25 students are studying PhD in 5 subjects at Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology in Chitlang.
