100 pigs have died in Hetaunda due to swine fever virus. According to Animal Services Office Hetounda, in the current fiscal year 2081/82 due to swine fever, especially in different wards of Hetounda sub-metropolis, wild boars were found dead in cages.

Head of the office Bajrakishor Thakur has said that due to this disease in Hetaunda sub-metropolitan ward 90, 7 in ward 17 and 3 in ward 11 have died due to this disease.

"Because there is no concrete treatment for this disease, we had a problem controlling it," said Thakur, the head of the office.  He said that precautions such as digging pits and using special protective materials for animal care are being taken for those who have died from swine fever.

Swine fever disease caused by ASF virus was first observed in 2022 in Kageshwari Manhara of Kathmandu. It is mentioned in the data provided by the office that there are currently 158,800 Bangur in Nepal.

According to Vijay Paudel, a veterinarian at the office, if swine fever occurs, blood spots will appear on the pig's body, high fever above 105 degrees Fahrenheit, blood clots, difficulty breathing, not eating and miscarriage. Doctor Paudel has said that special attention should be paid to the prevention of animal transport, special emphasis on cage hygiene and waste management, and prevention of unnecessary contact with animals to control the disease.

office has informed 20 Bangurpalak farmers about this disease and also distributed fennel, lime, masks, aprons and globes to each farmer for work safety. Also, in case of death of an antelope due to disease, it is possible to contact the Animal Services Office, Hetaunda, and get a grant as a relief.
