Veteran artist Sunil Thapa has passed away.

He was taken to Norvik Hospital on Saturday morning after falling unconscious in his own apartment in Shankhamul. He died during treatment.

Artist Tulsi Ghimire, who was in the hospital, informed that the official announcement of his death would be made only after the arrival of his relatives. Thapa's sons are said to be in India and are eager to return.

After his death, many relatives and people from the art world have gathered at the hospital. He is also known by the nickname 'Rate Kaila' in the Nepali film industry. He got this name from the movie 'Chino'. Thapa's latest Nepali film is 'Eklo'.

He has also acted in Nepali films like Gorkha Paltan, Shikari, Shikari 2, Papi Manche, Papi Manche 2, Alzhechh Kyare Pachhauri, Dewar Babu, Karma Yodda and others.

He also worked in the comedy TV series Meri Bassai, Captain and others. Thapa has played the role of a villain in most of the Nepali films he has acted in.
