It had been only 15 days since her son, who was working as a laborer in India, returned home. After her son, who had returned to stay with his family for a few days, passed away forever, Sitala Rokaya, 61, of Tulsipur, Gulariya Municipality-4, has not stopped crying.
She was seen hugging her 9-year-old grandson in front of the District Administration Office on Friday afternoon. The deceased's 9-year-old son Ritik Rokaya was also crying remembering his father. The deceased's wife Sushma Rokaya was crying and fainting from time to time.

His elder brother is in the Gulf for employment, while his younger brother is in Kerala. He had come to visit his family after a long time from employment.
Angry locals had protested at the district administration on Friday demanding control of the problematic wildlife. Sitla Rokaya said that the leopard attacked her, Jethi, Maili Buhari and Maili Chora, along with other neighbors, when they went to cut grass in a nearby community forest for their goats. ‘The leopard hunted my son while we were cutting grass on the side of the road,’ she said. ‘Even though leopards have been hunting people for a long time, the concerned bodies have not shown any interest.’ She demanded that the concerned bodies immediately take control of such man-eating leopards.
Uma Bhandari of Gulariya Municipality-4 said that leopards are seen around houses every day. ‘I am afraid to even go out at night,’ she said, ‘How long will we live in this fear.’
Ramu Lodh of Gulariya Municipality-8 said that even when the leopard enters the village every day, it does not pay any attention even when the Division Forest Office is informed. ‘Only when a leopard kills a person, the administration and the concerned bodies open their eyes,’ he said, ‘Only after the incident has happened, they put a cage for a couple of days for show, and then they take it away.’
Suresh Gautam, ward chairman of Gulariya Municipality-4, said that a written agreement has been reached with the Shutraba administration on the condition of providing appropriate compensation to the deceased family and taking immediate control of the problematic tiger and leopard. He said that the body has been kept at Bardiya Hospital and the last rites will be performed on Saturday.
When asked to know more about this matter, the information officer of the District Administration Office and Assistant Chief District Officer Ashok Kumar Bhandari and Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal did not want to be contacted.
The Division Forest Office's Information Officer Shiva Bahadur KC said that the search for the problematic leopard will begin from Saturday. Recently, the number of leopards in the Division Forest Office's area has been increasing. The general public has become panicked as attacks have started happening daily. Since the beginning of the current fiscal year, 10 people have died due to wild animal attacks.
