Two people have died in a single day in Bardiya due to wild animal attacks. Maisara Dangi, 49, of Madhuban Municipality-9, Village No. 13, was attacked by a leopard, and Nandu Rokaya, 35, of Tulsipur, Gulariya Municipality-4, died due to a leopard attack on Thursday.

The leopard that came out of the forest attacked and killed Dangi while he was working in his own field, said Madhuban Municipality Mayor Tej Bahadur Bhat. ‘The tiger attacked and ran towards the forest while he was working in his own field,’ said Mayor Bhat. ‘The body of the woman was found in a state of being eaten during the search on Thursday evening.’

Madhuban-9 Ward Chairman Harka Bahadur Basnet said that he had to bear human losses every day while going to work in the field. ‘The government had to fence off the forest and keep the tiger, and did not keep the tiger in the open and feed the people,’ he complained.

Rada, on the other hand, died on the spot when the leopard attacked him while he was cutting grass in the Janajagruti Community Forest in Belbhar, Barbardiya Municipality-11.

Since the seventh month of the current fiscal year, 10 people have died in Bardiya due to wild animal attacks. Information Officer of the Division Forest Office, Shiva Bahadur KC, said.
