Consumers of Gulariya are suffering due to the murky water coming from the taps. The taps in the surrounding areas of Gulariya Municipality-5, 6 and 7 have been experiencing murky water for about three months.

Locals have complained that the concerned bodies have neglected to improve the problem that has been seen for a year during the construction of the road, and they are forced to drink dirty water.

As the problem of dirty water coming into the tap has not been stopped, some consumers who have installed drinking water lines have installed filters, while others are forced to buy bottled water. Locals said that consumers who cannot install filters or buy bottled water are forced to drink dirty water.

Consumers have criticized the Gulariya Drinking Water Consumers Committee from time to time on social media, accusing it of supplying contaminated drinking water. Consumers complain that there has been no improvement even after informing the concerned bodies about the problem several times.

A consumer from Gulariya Municipality-5 said that he was forced to install filters at home because there was no drinking water coming into the tap. ‘I installed a filter because there was no solution for a long time,’ he said, ‘I have been paying the minimum monthly fee of Rs. 120 to the Drinking Water Consumers Committee Gulariya in vain.’

A consumer from Gulariya Municipality-7, who has been receiving murky drinking water for three months, said. ‘When I wash my child’s white dress in drinking water, it looks yellow,’ he said, ‘Even if I don’t use drinking water, I have to pay the minimum monthly fee.’

During the construction of the road, the problem of murky water coming into the taps of some villages around Gulariya Bazaar due to a burst pipe was seen, said Minraj Sharma, chairman of the Drinking Water Consumers Committee Gulariya. ‘We did not provide dirty water,’ he said, ‘The problem is in front of the house of the person whose pipe has burst, our technicians are finding the place where the pipe burst and repairing it.’

He said that the pipe was damaged when the road construction agency worked without coordination. He said that they are also coordinating with the Drinking Water Division Office to resolve the problem of murky water.
