Identification of the collective needs of conflict-affected women and girls has been started in all the eight municipalities in the district. Identification of the collective needs of women and girls subjected to sexual violence during the conflict period has been started.
Regarding the United Nations Security Council resolution No. 1325 and 1820 regarding women, peace and security, the government gave the responsibility of implementing the second national action plan to the local level. According to the same responsibility, the work of identifying the collective needs of women and girls affected by the conflict has been implemented by the sub-committee formed by the deputy chiefs of all the eight municipalities.
It is said that initiatives will be taken to address identified needs that can be addressed at the local level by the local government and the provinces and unions to address the needs that cannot be addressed. Bina Bhattarai, Deputy Head of Thakurbaba Municipality, said that it took a long time to prepare a blueprint for identifying the needs of conflict-affected women and girls and to create a code of conduct to maintain confidentiality.
Truth and Reconciliation Commission has opened a notification for the victims of sexual violence during the armed conflict to file a complaint, said Bhagiram Chowdhury, the chairman of the conflict victim committee, Bardia. "In order to maintain confidentiality, it has been arranged for the victims to appear in the public prosecutor's office, e-mail and file a complaint by themselves," Chairman Chaudhary said.
