Another problematic leopard has been taken into custody by the Division Forest Office. The forest took control of the leopard from the Tharu community forest in Balapur, Gularia municipality-5 on Sunday morning.
On May 21 last, the forest took control of a female leopard from the same forest. As two leopards were seen on the camera, the forest was constantly tapping the cage.
Information Officer of Division Forest Office Ramkumar Chaudhary said that the leopard that was taken under control is now kept in the forest office. "The leopard in the cage is jumping in fear," he said, "due to which the male or female could not be distinguished."
7-year-old Saira Tharu of Gularia Municipality-5 Balapur was attacked and killed by a leopard on 14th June. Similarly, 9-year-old Melina Khadka died after being attacked by a leopard in Gularia Municipality-8 Dumping Side Sarju Community Forest on 15th Baisakh.
Similarly, 65-year-old Bikkulal Tharu of Gulria Municipality-4 and 7-year-old Sirjan Tharu of Gulria Municipality-5 Balapur were attacked and injured by a leopard last March.

A leopard attacked and injured Anita Chaudhary on Saturday when she went to collect firewood in the community forest of Barbardia Municipality-1. Chaudhary's arm is said to have been injured. Ramkumar Chaudhary, Information Officer of the Division Forest Office informed that the injured Chaudhary is being treated at a hospital in Barbardia.
In the current financial year, 1 woman, 2 girls and 1 boy have died due to leopard attacks.
