Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality of Dhankuta has made public a budget of Rs 460 million for the fiscal year 2083/084. Vice-Chairperson Geeta Gurung Khewa presented the budget for the upcoming fiscal year at the village assembly held on Sunday.

The rural municipality, which had previously made public its policies and programs on Asad 20, was unable to present the budget within the stipulated time due to the prolonged discussions on budget allocation in the village executive, informed Rural Municipality Chairperson Chhatra Bahadur Subba.

The rural municipality has adopted a policy to make agriculture and animal husbandry the main basis of economic development in the upcoming fiscal year. Production growth and marketing have been prioritized with the slogan 'Animal husbandry, cooperatives, industry, production growth, value addition and market assurance - a common commitment of a prosperous rural municipality'.

The budget states that a special master plan will be prepared and implemented to develop the rural municipality as a sustainable and tourism-friendly destination by launching a campaign called 'Let's develop tourism infrastructure, let's introduce Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality' for the development of the tourism sector.

In the health sector, with the slogan 'I am healthy, my municipality is healthy, my country is healthy', complete vaccination service, nutrition program, pregnancy incentive allowance, maternal and child welfare, family planning and safe reproductive health program will be continued. 50 percent subsidy on health insurance fees and 24-hour maternity service have also been given priority.

From this fiscal year, the rural municipality will start the 'Baby Savings-Lakhpati Program'. A fixed-term savings account will be opened targeting the safe future and higher education of every child born in the rural municipality. Arrangements will be made to withdraw the deposited amount after the child turns 18 as per the procedure. Chairman Subba informed that Rs 41 million has been allocated for this program.

In the last fiscal year 2082/083, the rural municipality had brought a budget of Rs 496 million 70 thousand. This year, the budget has been reduced by Rs 36 million 70 thousand compared to the previous year.
