Ramkrishna Thapa, 47, died on Friday in Khalde Katahare, Mahalaxmi Municipality-9, Dhankuta. Police said the incident occurred when the gun exploded while cleaning it.
While cleaning it, he heated the barrel of the loaded gun on fire. Then, while trying to clean it with his mouth, it suddenly exploded. The seriously injured Thapa was taken to the District Hospital, Dhankuta for treatment, but doctors declared him dead on Friday night during treatment.
After the incident, a team deployed from the Jitpur police station seized the loaded gun from the spot. Dhankuta Police Inspector Pandav Rajbanshi, who reached the spot, informed that Thapa may have kept the gun at home to scare away monkeys. Police said that an additional police team under the command of Police Inspector Rajbanshi has been deployed at the spot and is investigating the incident.
